Ethanol Prices
If you are considering a conversion to an ethanol based fuel or even gasoline with ethanol added to it, you may want to learn more about current ethanol prices. There are hundreds of stations around the USA that sell E85, which is a blend of 85 percent ethanol with only 15 percent gasoline added. On the road are millions of vehicles running on E85 fuel. Not every vehicle is compatible with this type of fuel but many are. Some manufacturers with E85 compatible vehicles include Ford, GM, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan and quite a few others.
Right now, the price of E85 fuel is lower than the price of gasoline. It is not as easily accessible, it does have its disadvantages for some consumers but for others it is the ideal solution. For example, right now at an Indiana gas station there is a 35 percent difference between the cost of gasoline and the cost of E85. At some stations around the nation the margin is a lot smaller, with the difference between gasoline and E85 being very minimal, as low as 3 percent.
There are other benefits to using ethanol besides the cost. For example, when ethanol is added to gasoline it results in a cleaner burning fuel that releases less toxic emissions into the air. Also, some supporters of ethanol fuel believe its production helps to improve the success of farmers and creates more job opportunities here in the U.S. While this is good for the economy, some believe the production of ethanol takes away from the food source. This can be remedied with cellulose ethanol made from indigestible plant fibers. Cellulose can be found in corn husks, plant stems and other botanical components that aren't usually consumed.
When it comes to ethanol prices there has never been a better time than right now to consider E85 fuel for your vehicle. Even if you don't make the switch you may want to consider an ethanol additive to your gasoline. If you have questions about this alternative type of fuel there are lots of resources online that are packed with information. Any consumer considering a change in their current fuel is wise to learn as much as they can in order to make an informed decision.
